Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated RCB by 6 wickets in the opening match of IPL-2024. RCB won the toss and chose to bat first at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai on Friday. The team scored 173 runs losing 6 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Chennai achieved the target by losing 4 wickets in 18.4 overs.
Virat Kohli and Dhoni hugged before the first ball of the match. At the same time, the very first ball of the season went wide. Excellent fielding was seen in the match. Ajinkya Rahane and Rachin Ravindra together took a brilliant catch and dismissed Virat Kohli. Whereas, Dhoni ran out Anuj Rawat with a direct throw.

The first ball of IPL 2024 went wide. Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis opened for RCB. Deepak Chahar came to bowl. Chahar bowled a length ball on the off side to Kohli on strike, which Kohli did not play and left it, the umpire declared it wide.

CSK fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman bowled a bouncer in the 12th over, which Kohli hooked and shot towards deep mid-wicket. Due to the slow speed of the ball, it became difficult for Kohli to time the ball. Kohli’s shot could not go long and the ball went towards Rahane.

Mustafizur bowled a length ball, on which Green tried to play a cut shot. He completely failed to connect the shot and the ball went straight to the stumps. Mustafizur got 2 wickets in a single over.
7.Dhoni ran out Rawat by hitting a direct throw.
Anuj Rawat and Dinesh Karthik helped their team make a big score by making a partnership of 95 runs. Dhoni ran out Rawat on the last ball of the innings.
On the last ball of the innings, Karthik missed the ball outside the off stump and Rawat bowled the ball from the non-striker’s end to steal a bye run. However, Dhoni was ready for this. He made an under-arm throw on the stumps and ran out Rawat while he was outside his crease.
8. Maxwell took a close catch on the boundary.
In the 11th over of CSK’s innings, Glenn Maxwell took a close catch on the boundary and Ajinkya Rahane had to go to the pavilion. Rahane played a pull shot to Cameron Green’s length ball, Maxwell, standing at square leg, jumped on the boundary while running and took the catch.
